Our platform and movement is about changing the way we interact with each other. Social media has fostered a place where hateful communication can thrive, and it makes it incredibly difficult to foster real connections between people. In the digital age, it should be easier than ever to find each other, to organize, to discover what makes us happy. That’s the world WeAre8 is building.
WeAre8 is on a mission to enable the world’s citizens to donate tens of thousands to charities globally - bringing resources, education, and hope to the most vulnerable populations. Whichever cause is closest to people’s heart, it is our goal at WeAre8 to help them contribute to it, even if they can only spend a few minutes a day.
Our platform enables thousands of citizens to donate straight to charities they love, simply by watching adverts and using the money that has been paid into their 8Wallets. Every advert watched guarantees a charity donation, as well as delivering a micropayment straight to you that you can redeem or donate to any cause you love.

We are so proud to be a certified B Corp Corporation since December 2020. In 2020, WeAre8 was certified as a B Corporation. As a B Corporation, we are assessed and verified independently by B Lab to commit to meeting high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.
To be a Certified B Corp, a company must score a minimum of 80 out of 200 points on B Lab’s Impact Assessment. The assessment measures an organization's positive impact on workers, suppliers, community and the environment.
Based on the B Impact assessment, WeAre8 earned an overall score of 90.9. The median score for ordinary businesses who complete the assessment is currently 50.9.
Governance evaluates a company’s overall mission, engagement around its social/environmental impact, ethics, and transparency. This section also evaluates the ability of a company to protect their mission and formally consider stakeholders in decision making through their corporate structure (e.g. benefit corporation) or corporate governing documents. We treat our social and environmental impact as a primary measure of success for our business and prioritize it even in cases where it may not drive profitability.
In order to ensure that this performance continues to be a part of our decision-making process over time, regardless of company ownership, we have signed a contract or Board resolution committing to adopting a legal form that requires consideration of all stakeholders. Our highest level of corporate oversight includes the Board of Directors (with at least one member who is not an executive or owner of the company) who meet quarterly. In these meetings we highlight our social and environmental impact transparently.
100% of employees on an FTE (Full Time Equivalent) basis are paid at least the equivalent of a living wage for an individual. As well as this, all of our employees are granted stock options, meaning they benefit from our growth and are a true owner.
Keeping our team healthy is very important, and also something that B Corp encourages as a priority. Therefore, we offer private health insurance and access to a wellbeing and stress management course. Constantly finding ways to keep our employees’ health top of mind is key!
WeAre8 is all about community, which is why our commercial model is so heavily weighted towards people and the planet. With an intentional impact-led business model, in 2021 we were able to give 12% of our brand advertising revenue to charity partners and 1% to climate solutions.
In 2021, our generated donations made up 8% of our total brand advertising revenue.
As a female-founded company, enabling diversity and ensuring we have a workplace that empowers our employees is incredibly important and deep-rooted in our values, which is why we have achieved a 50% gender split in our workforce.
Through our partnership with Ecologi, where we share 1% of our revenues, we support brands in offsetting the carbon of their entire campaign, and help make sustainability turnkey for our brand and agency partners.
On WeAre8, people are paid for their time watching ads. This business model therefore is supporting our customers and having a positive impact. We set out with the intention to give at least 50% of our brand advertising revenue back to people. We exceed this in 2021, giving 59% of our revenue back to people. We also make transparency a priority, and ensure that our customers are in control of their data.
We partnered with Ecologi, a platform for real climate action and a certified B Corporation. They facilitate the funding of carbon offset projects and tree planting around the world. Their mission is to reduce 50% of global CO2 emissions by 2040 and responsibly plant billions of trees every year.
WeAre8 and Ecologi are trusted partners, with 1% of every campaign on WeAre8 allocated to Ecologi. Our profile (forest) shows the tangible impact that brands and individuals can make by working with us. This action is significant, as through this, we have been able to identify exactly how much carbon is offset as well as what impact that has in the world. Working with the right partners, such as Ecologi, will guarantee 1000s kgs of CO2e saving per year.
Ad Net Zero (ANZ) was set up as the ad industry’s initiative to respond to the climate crisis caused by CO2 emissions. ANZ has the ambition to work together with the UK advertising industry to drive carbon-curbing policies throughout the ad ecosystem that will strengthen and extend the sector’s response to our shared challenge.
In 2021, WeAre8 officially became an ANZ supporter, committed to being part of the solution. Being an ANZ supporter means being part of the industry-wide drive to reduce the carbon impact of developing, producing and running advertising to real net zero by end 2030 and committing to making practical changes in the way we run our advertising operations.
We contributed to the Advertising Associations’ ANZ B2B call to arms through their Global Summit and Ad Week Europe programming. We also actively took part in training to receive the Ad Net Zero Essentials Certificate, which includes:
Techniques to measure the carbon emissions related to the work we produce across the advertising process and media industry
