US Youth Soccer champions Love (No hate) on WeAre8 - A social platform built to grow and nurture community

Texas, USA- [14 August, 2024] - WeAre8, the new social media platform that champions love over hate, and makes it fun and easy for the community to make collective impact, has today announced a collaboration with US Youth Soccer (USYS), encouraging the community of USYS to foster a healthier relationship with social media.

WeAre8 was founded by tech entrepreneur Zoe Kalar with backing and investment from partners including BBC Studios and Warner Bros. Discovery and is the only social media platform that has been created with an ethos of fostering positive change and economic empowerment for people, community groups and charities.

In addition to having no tolerance for hateful content, and implementing high levels of moderation with recognition software and AI, WeAre8 also shares its advertising revenue back with community groups and charities through a transformational economic model.

The platform's unique approach ensures that the majority of its ad revenue (60%) goes directly back to the people, charities, community groups like USYS, creators, and planet projects for every ad viewed on the app. Instead of interrupting people with forced in-feed ads, WeAre8 values and respects people's time by sharing the ad revenue with them when they opt-in to watch and allowing them to decide how to use it.

The partnership with USYS represents a natural alignment of values and vision. As one of the world's leading youth sport organizations, with a rich history of using the power of sport as a tool for social change and empowerment. WeAre8’s deep community values provides a natural home for it to share this with a like-minded community online.

Zoe Kalar, Founder & CEO of WeAre8 said: "The US Youth Soccer commitment to positive change through sport aligns perfectly with our mission to empower individuals and communities to come together, feel inspired and make the positive change we all want to see in the world.  With our unique application of validated identity, AI infrastructure, and social feeds with no algorithms, we provide people with a ‘safe social home’ and a viable social alternative where they are seen by their friends and free to express their biggest selves, without fear. People are valued with micro-payments with every ad viewed and discover the amazing power of their values to support others.  WeAre8 literally puts the power back into the hands of the people and reconnects us with communities we love.”

Skip Gilbert, CEO of US Youth Soccer said: "We believe in the power of sport to unite, inspire, and uplift. By partnering with WeAre8, we can provide our US Youth Soccer community with a healthier and safer way to share our stories on social media. We believe it's more important than ever to protect and foster a healthier relationship with technology, and WeAre8 sets the right tone when it comes to empowering young people to drive positive change in the world.

“Whether it's game day, or spotlighting the people who make our incredible community so amazing, we will be sharing our stories and our impact on WeAre8. Come and join us.”

As the digital landscape continues to evolve, WeAre8 stands at the forefront of a new era in social media—one that prioritizes people over profit, values community over engagement, and empowers individuals to come together and make a difference.

WeAre8 is available to download now from Apple App Store or Google Play.
